Introducing the Archive series. More practice for me: more music for you!
Seattle-born rapper Macklemore and his producer Ryan Lewis teamed up with English actor Idris Elba, star of Prometheus and Pacific Rim, to create "Dance Off". In the song's corresponding video, Macklemore explores around a hotel, and dancing follows him everywhere he goes.
Zayn Malik's R&B crooner got a trippy indie-pop remake when Børns decided to cover it and make it his next single. Børns is best known for his ambiguous falsetto in songs like "10,000 Emerald Pools" and "Electric Love". Now he is adding "It's You", originally penned by Zayn Malik, to his hippie-pop repertoire.
Hopeless Records set the standard for incredible pop-punk bands. When they and Simple Plan members recommend a band, the band must be pretty good. Story Untold is Hopeless Records' newest signee, and their new single "History" was co-written with Simple Plan's Pierre Bouvier and Chuck Comeau.
Andy Black kicked off the American leg of The Homecoming Tour in Baltimore, Maryland at the Baltimore Soundstage. Andy showed off his famous baritone and witty banter, and gave the audience a peak and what is next for Andy Biersack.
Halsey and her Badlands producer Lido teamed up again to produce and drop a surprise track for fans: "Tokyo Narita." In the two-minute-long freestyle demo, Halsey sings of listening to Kanye West and Drake and going to Vogue Parties. The song could be about her relationship with the producer, or it could be a song about an alternative relationship that follows in the style of Badlands.
DNCE frontman and former JoBro Joe Jonas and model Ashley Graham get touchy-feely in DNCE's follow-up to their hit "Cake By The Ocean." "Toothbrush" shows off the singer's strong falsetto while keeping up the band's funky image.
On Saturday, I had the amazing opportunity to attend Sweetgreen's Sweetlife Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Performances included Eagles Of Death Metal, Blondie, Mac Demarco, The 1975, and Halsey. Each performance was unique and special and not even the rain and mud could ruin the high.
Andy Black released his debut solo album The Shadow Side over the weekend. The album combines elements of emo, pop-punk, 80s goth, and electronic to make an album that is uniquely Andy. The album also features collaborators such as Ashton Irwin, Rian Dawson, Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Juliet Simms, and Matt Skiba. Overall, it's an album the Black Veil Brides vocalist should be proud to call his own.
You might know Michael McGough as the guitarist and backing vocalist from Being As An Ocean. But his new solo project, Heart Of Gold, is the absolute opposite of post-hardcore. McGough showcases his voice in the synth-pop song "Adore You." It's no Being As An Ocean; it's an amazing indie pop song.
Who is excited for midnight? "Beautiful Pain" is the fourth track to be released off Andy Black's debut solo album The Shadow Side. The rest can be heard at midnight tonight! The song has an electronic beat, but the lyrics are just as poetic and emo as you want in an Andy Black song.
