Icon For Hire answered my question with the announcement of their Kickstarter campaign. Instead of a traditional album release, You Can't Kill Us will be released throughout the year. By the end of 2016, backers will have a full length album and bonus tracks. There are also lots of other goodies up for grabs depending on how much you pledge: including a t-shirt, poster, hoodie, tour survival kit and more! They are even offering a private acoustic set, a chance to perform on stage with them, or an opportunity to go fishing with Shawn (which someone already pledged! It's $2500!). Of course they're pricy, but they're available!
Their newest song is called "Supposed To Be." It's a frustrated power ballad about society's expectations on an individual. I personally see it from a mental disorder standpoint. Is it normal to be anxious or depressed? Is that who you are or what your condition has made you? "I don't wanna be stuck, I don't wanna be crazy/This is the way that my sadness made me/Better come quick, yeah better come save me." I love it, and I relate to it. I've backed the campaign (the minimum $15 for the CD because I'm a poor college student whose supposed to be writing a thesis) and I'm super excited for the rest of the album.
"Supposed To Be" is off Icon For Hire's junior album You Can't Kill Us. The album is only available for their Kickstarter campaign backers. The band currently has not plans to tour.
