Iggy has gotten a lot of criticism from her music, but she knows who she is and what she wants to produce. I think this song represents that: "Baby I got me/And that's all I need/Yeah that's all I need/Baby I got me/Only friend I see/Playing on my team." Remember: don't look to other people for your confidence. Be sure of yourself and take the rest in stride.
Not only is "Team" an overall better song than "Azillion" but the marketing for it is much better. "Azillion" was a surprise drop, which may work for One Direction and Kendrick Lamar, but it doesn't work for the majority of artists. Iggy has since stepped up her Twitter presence, talking directly to fans and counting down the days until "Team" drops. It makes her look humbler, which is good for her image. Iggy's stage presence is very statuesque and royal, but that doesn't mean she's that egotistical offstage. She is showing everyone that she is hardworking and appreciative of her fans. This image is necessary if Iggy wants to climb her way back to the top.
"Team" is off Iggy Azalea's sophomore album Digital Distortion, which is set to be released later this year through Def Jam Recordings. The song is currently #3 on the US & British iTunes Top Hip-Hop/Rap Chart. It available on iTunes and Spotify. Iggy Azalea currently does not have any upcoming shows, but she will be performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, March 22nd.
