There are currently no rumors or reports of Halsey writing again, which can make fans antsy. True, Badlands is not even a year old, but with only one album available, eleven songs may not seem like enough.
So to hold fans over for the summer, Halsey and her producer Lido released "Tokyo Narita." The song is a freestyle demo, which means both Halsey and Lido came up with the lyrics and music on the spot. In it, Halsey alludes to some big names in music. She name-checks Kanye, "So we laid down on the floor next to our brand new bed/Just so we can listen to this new Kanye West," and Drake, "Told the driver, 'keep it goin', he can run the meter/So we can finally hear Views on some decent speakers." She also alludes to her own song "Drive": "Til we back out on the 405 with Baby Bash/Your making me laugh, now I'm just trying not to crash/And all we do is drive, sugar how'd you get so fly?" In "Drive" Halsey sings, "Swerving on the 405...All we do is drive."
"Tokyo Narita" was released through Astralwerks. Halsey's current single "Castle" is #22 on the US iTunes Top Pop Songs. The track is available on Spotify. Halsey will be performing tomorrow in California for The Grammy Museum.
